Tutorial | Frigid Night

Frigid Night *Requested Tutorial*
A glittery, smoky look for a special night out!

PROCEDURE

Please excuse the redness in my face; I'm a bit sunburnt right now. :P
01. Apply an eyeshadow primer to lids (up to the brow bone) and under-eye area using a finger. This is necessary for longevity of wear or absolutely mandatory if you have oily skin or eyelids. Let dry 30 seconds to one minute without creasing your eyelids.

02. Fill in your eyebrows with an appropriate eyeshadow color and angled brush or brow kit. A good rule-of-thumb is to make your brows 2 shades darker if you have blonde or light hair OR 2 shades lighter if you have black or dark hair.

03. Apply a highlight color with a fluffy eyeshadow brush to your brow bone and down into the crease to create a transition zone.

04. Using a flat, dense eyeshadow brush, apply a metallic/shimmer white eyeshadow to the inner corners and center of your lid. Apply the same shadow to the inner corner underneath your eye, which will help open up the eye and brighten the look.

05. Using a flat, dense eyeshadow brush, apply a black eyeshadow with silver sparkle to the outer corners and into the crease. Apply the same shadow to the center and outer corner underneath your eye to act as a base for eyeliner and will help prevent smudging as the day goes on. It's okay if it looks a little crazy/extreme at this point.

06. Using a flat, fluffy blending brush, blend the black eyeshadow slightly into the metallic white and up into the highlight color. Take several minutes on this part to achieve a smooth gradient and transition into the highlight color. Sometimes dusting your brush in a matte light brown color before blending will help a dark color transition better into a light one, eliminating harsh lines.

07. Add more of the sparkly black eyeshadow to the outer corners of your eyes to darken the look after blending.

08. Apply one drop of a liquid silver glitter (or equivalent) to the inner corners, centers of the lids, and slightly into the outer corners using one finger. If you get some glitter on your eyelashes, don't worry; we're going to cover it up with mascara anyway!

09. Using a black liquid eyeliner, line the top of your lids next to the lash line.

10. Using a black pencil eyeliner, line your waterlines and into the lash lines.

11. Apply one layer of lengthening/separating mascara to top and bottom lashes. Also, apply one layer of volumizing mascara to top and bottom lashes.

12. Clean up any fallout with a makeup remover wipe, and set makeup by spraying yourself with a makeup-setting mist. Let dry with your eyes closed for at least 1 minute. This is also a must for those of us with oily skin.

Just some things to keep in mind...

*You spend the most time applying makeup. Placing it in the right spots and in proportion to your own lid space and face is important, but blending it all out is equally, if not MORE, important in order to make your look a professional one.
*Don't get discouraged if you're not satisfied with your look the first time...or the 20th time. Learning how to apply makeup to your own unique face takes time/patience with and analysis of yourself.
*Makeup is an art. There is no right or wrong way to do it. There are techniques that you can learn to create a more perfect look that's tailored to you and your preferences, but it's YOU that matters at the end of the day.
